About Me

If you want a quick overview of me, my experiences, and my skills please take a look at my resume which you can download here!

Hey There! I'm Matt.

I’m a second year student in NSCC’s game programming program. I’ve dabbled in software engineering, IT, and management best practices, but my true love is game programming because I love bringing game worlds to life. I know a few different programming languages and am always hungry for more experience in the industry!

What Do I Do?

Having a background in software engineering, I’m able to do pretty much any kind of programming; Though, I’m most passionate about programming gameplay. I love the shared experience potential of video games and believe that strong gameplay is the corner store of achieving that.

My Journey

2018 - Started Electrical Engineering at UNB

This was my first step in my education outside of high school. Though I quickly realized that electrical engineering wasn't for me, I still took my first steps into development and figuring out how to learn.

Switched to Software Engineering - 2020

With Software Engineering I got a little closer to what I was aiming for. I discovered my love for programming and more fully developed the engineering mindset. While this wasn't the right fit for me I still learned a lot from my time in software engineering.

2022 - Hired for First Developer Job

My first job as a developer was a big step for me. I started doing web development for a small company called Qualiti7 and even got the opportunity to make an internal app for them. It gave me my first experience with working on software in a team, and helped start me on the path of software development.

Completed First Game Dev Course - 2023

Feeling a loss of motivation and passion for programming I decided to take a chance by trying to combine my passion for games and the skills I had developed. I took a game programming course at UNB and found that my love for games re--invigorated my passion. This was the catalyst for my change in direction, and the best course I took in university.

2023 - Participated in First GameJam

Having dipped my toes into game development, I decided to take initiative in gaining experience and decided to participate in GMTK's 2023 GameJam. Though it was intimidating at first, this was a great experience, and the first in many I would participate in.

Started Game Prog. at NSCC - 2023

Deciding to change the course of my career, I decided to switch over to NSCC and take part in their game programming program. The learning I've done here has been amazing and has solified my love for every step of the process of making games!

2024 - Became NSCC Game Dev Club Pres.

Wanting to share my passion for games I took the mantle of the Game Dev Club president. In this role I helped facilitate students sharing their achievements, as well as hosting workshops for extra-curricular learning and team building activities.

Hired as Game Prog. Tutor - 2024

NSCC recognized my previous experience in programming, and engineering as a whole and gave me the opportunity to help students who were struggling in their courses. In this role I helped teach mathematics, programming, and game design to hopefully give support to new comers to the industry.

2025 - Graduated NSCC

Having completed all my courses, and learned everything I could from my time at NSCC, it was time to graduate. This marked the end of one chapter of my life, and opened the door to the next, that being of starting my career in earnest.

The Future

This part of my story hasn't been written yet, but I hope that if you're reading this, that you'll be part of it. If you want to collaborate or connect please reach out. I'm always happy to meet new people and share my passion for this industry!

A Little More About Me...

Bilingual Canadian

Though I spent most of my life in Atlantic Canada, I originally came from Quebec. I grew up french and I’m proud to be a bi-lingual Canadian!

TTRPGs

I’ve loved playing TTRPGs since I was little. I’ve played a lot of D&D, but also many other systems (Including M&M, T2K, Lancer, etc…). I love to run games for my firends, and have even helped some of them develop their own systems!

Gunpla

Gunpla is another one of my great passions. I love taking the time to work on the models and customize them so that they tell their own stories!
